2018 CRIRE PACKING AND MOVING OUT OF BUNKS

THURSDAY, 12/20/2019

TODAY WE WILL BE HAVE BREAKFAST AS NORMAL THEN ON OUR WAY TO COSTA RICA TO MEET OUR AIR FLIGHTS ON FRIDAY.  ALONG THE WAY WE WILL OBSERVE THE BEACH AND HAVE LUNCH AS HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP FOR THE DAY.

2018 CRIRE PRESENTATION DAY

Wednesday, 12/19/2018

Today, I practice for my presentation to sell my product.  I believe our customers wanted more on Cecropia species and other tropical species and data.  In virtual reality I sold out on Cecropia species, my day was successful and the tropical rain complimented the teams hard work.
Presentation begin at 10:00am to 3:30pm.  There were eleven  presentation.  The director, coordinator mentor were present and great appreciation to their organization.

2018 CRIRE COMPLETE MANIPULATION FOR RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS

TUESDAY, 12/18/2018

ALL NOTE OF OBSERVATION AND GRIDS OF SPECIES WERE COMPILED SPECIFIC COORDINATE, ELEVATION, TEMPERATURE AND TIME ALONG GEOGRAPHICAL INPUT TO THE MAP.  CALCULATION OF DATA COLLECTED OF OUR FOUR SPECIES WERE PLACED INTO GRIDS AND ELABORATED AND INPUT INTO PERSPECTIVE TO SHOW THE ORGANIZATION OF OUR RESEARCH ON PAPER.  THE TEAMS PAPER AND INFORMATION TO COMPLETE ASSESSMENT OF CECROPIA WAS DRAFT AND READ AND REVIEWED BY MENTOR AND PROGRAM DIRECTOR.

THIS READ AND REVIEW WAS ASSESSED BY SCOTT, JESSICA AND THEIR TEAM.  HERE, 2018 CRIRE TEAM LEADER INPUT THE CORRECTION NECESSARY FOR TASTY PUBLISHED POSTER ON OUR RESEARCH.

THIS EVENING OUR TEAM SUBMITTED OUR RESEARCH POSTER.  RESEARCH WAS READ AND REVIEWED.AND SUBMITTED TO THE TEAM LEADER. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

2018 CRIRE OBSERVATION OF FIELD REQUIRED COORDINATES AND OTHER FACTS

Monday, 12/17/2018

Collected Resource to input for to support observation and description and purpose of subject species being studied.  Our other data complete to support Landsat were being review and processed to be compatible.
Material and observation plus factors to support the stance of species existence on the abandon land was gradually being put into perspective. This required more search for resources and manipulating calculation of data observation and data collelction of Cecropia species found in the open area of the abandoned land area.

Sunday, 12/16/2018

Agenda noted it was a relax day but all meal time are always set in stone.  Today I went out into the field with another team member, who assist me in sampling specific species were studying on the abandon land area.
Question I had were about the about the subjects chosen for research which I described as purple flower, red fruit plant, and tree like "Guayaba and Quarmo" which were given explanation by indigenous medicinal botanist.

One other question that stuck in my mind had been:  Are any of these species in other areas beside this abandon land area.  How far apart are these same species that were being reviewed for study.  Eventually we came to the Rio Java.  While were sitting on the bank rock some cattle showed up.
According to the medicinal botanist he noted that the purple flowers being studied is harmful to cattle's indigestion.  This particular flowers did not agree with indigestion of the cow.

2018 CRIRE MORE DATA COLLECTED FOR RESEARCH

Saturday, 12/15/2018

Reminder, yesterday our team request for lunch sacks for our field observation day.  Of course. we have breakfast on time which always include rice, beans and eggs with coffee, juice and water.

Today, more data was received in the field.  We learned that medicinal plans and abundant of species occupied that area which is not tended to by grounds keep.

I observed the area was crowded with too many plant species.  The ground was damp and wet so if I were a plant species near the soil I would suffocated due to less oxygen and no photosynthesis.
Members of the Ngobe were very helpful in what they knew about the plants and willing to share.    The knowledge of plant species was very to our research and observation of questionable ideas and all together the history bank they carry with them.

2018 CRIRE GROUNDWORK IN THE FIELD

FRIDAY, 12/14/2018

Today, I entered the grounds of the biological station to search for abandon land area where species may be effected by species on the abandon land area.  We covered grounds up to about 1mile over and back.  The terrain of these trails are rugged and require water proof boots.  Once off the trail, a machetti is needed to provide trail ways for the team.

So, our objective for today is to observe and gather data for our research to find out if there is regrowth on the land area.  This land are we chose was once used for farming cattle in the 1940's.
Observation, notes and asking many question with members of Ngobe Indigenous Group was very needed and helpful to complete the objectives for today.

THURSDAY, 12/13/2018 CHANGE OF PLAN IN RESEARCH TASK

Thursday, 12/13

Agenda
1.  Breakfast
2.  Meet with alternative plan and see what is going on
3.  Alternative research input for Abandon Land of Las Cruces Biological Station.
4.  Lunch at 12 noon when the bell rang then it welcome us for Lunch
5.  Dinner is served at 630 pm everyday.

Today, I worked on downloading QGIS, ArcGIS and Google Earth Pro set up.
About an hour into my work I found out the data server was not compatible with my QGIS program on my personal lab top.  The data server bank was not large enough to absorb all the data required to receive 100 percent compatibility.

The download begin for over 3 hours then an indication came on my lab top that my QGIS programs were being deleted from my personal lab top.
My next alternative meant to start plotting with Google Earth Pro which worked.  However, the pixel on the map was to large and smudged the target areas.  So visibility was not compatible again.  There was no clarity in Remote Sensing.

Next, I begin trouble shutting to use other resource for a larger and better data server.  It begin jut fine up until security alerted me again.  I was not about to give up.  I trouble shot using other avenue and resources.  I worked it out with my mentor and team.

WED. 12/12/2018 CRIRE INPUT ON OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Wednesday 12/12/2018

I begin my day have breakfast at 630am.  The menu is rice and bean with scrambled eggs.

Today, I met with my mentor, Alex A.  Here, my team met and greeted one another.  So, I met Alex and Jadin who were now on my team.  We review data sheet which were input to us studying the streams by sampling the Rio Java on a scaled basis.
So, the plan was to leave right after breakfast on Thursday. However, as a group we all hiked a good distance.  This was our first introduction to the jungle trail which lead to Rio Java.  This walk was amazingly luscious with tall green tree, brushes, vines and colorful flowers.

Tuesday 12/11/2018 Presentation of the Biological Station

Today, Scott introduced us to Las Cruces Biological Station with "Rodo".

First thing was breakfast at 630am in the dining hall.  Breakfast was Rice and Beans with Scramble Eggs and Juice.
Afterwards, we met in front or the patio of Wilson Lodge where we all were introduced to the "Rodo".  Rodo introduced himself.  He actual name is Rodolph Q.  Rodo gave us a tour of the plants species on the grounds of the biological statation.
I learned about the grandfather three which he has known to be here since 1941 and before when the land here was pastures for the farming cattle.
Next, I learned that if species had red and yellow color that was a warning that species on the Biological Station may be an indicator that its dangerous and possibly poisonous

CRIRE RESEARCH EXPERIENCE 2

DAY 2 - MONDAY, 12/10/2018

TIME TRAVEL TODAY BEGIN AT 630 AM TO 500 PM FROM SAN JOSE TO SAN VITO BY A BLUE TOURIST BUS.  THIS BLUE BUST LOOKED LIKE A BUG-"CHOSH" WITH ANTENNAS AS MIRRORS AT FRONT CORNERS.  THIS WAS FIRST OBSERVATION AND TAKEN.

THE FIRST BUS STOP, AFTER LEAVING SAN JOSE LANDED US  FOR A PRESENTATION OF AN AREA OF A 10,000 HIGH ELEVATION OF THE MOUNTAIN RANGE CALLED THE TALAMANCA MOUNTAINS.
IT WAS NICE TO STROLL AND STRETCH.  MY FIRST TAKE OF THIS AREA WERE THE HUGE CLOUD FORMATION LIFTING OFF ABOVE US.  AT THIS POINT WERE THROUGH THE FOG AND SEEING MORE SUNSHINE FOR THE FIRST TIME FOR THE DAY.  ON MY STROLL I NOTICE THE PLANTS AND THE MANY SPECIES FLYING AROUND WITH THE OVER ABUNDANCE OF GREENERY.  THE TEMPERATURE FELT NICE AND COZY WITH HIGH HUMIDITY.  I LOVED THE FRESH AIR AND WARM BRIGHT SUNSHINE.  THE PLACE WAS GORGEOUS AND AMAZING.  30 MINUTES TOP WAS ARE VISIT TO THE AREA.
WE CONTINUED OUR TRIP TOWARDS SAN VITO WHICH SEEMED TO BE ANOTHER COUPLE HOURS OF TRAVEL OR MORE.  AS WE TRAVEL ALONG SIDE THE MOUNTAIN WE TRAVEL PARALLEL WITH STREAMS, AND A RIVER NAMED "TERRABA".  TERABA CONTINUED ALONG SIDE THE MOUNTAIN BUT OUR TRAVEL CROSSED A BRIDGE OVER TERABA RIVER WERE THE ROAD SEEMED TO TURN INTO A U-TURN INTO A THE FIRST TOWN CALLED SAN VITO.  THE MOVEMENT ON THE ROPE SEEMED LIKE WE WERE TRAVELING FROM FLAGSTAFF, AZ TO SEDONA, AZ.
THERE WERE TWO OR THREE AREA WHERE THE ROADS WERE WASHED OUT AND THE ROAD CONSTUCTION WERE HOLDING TRAFFIC FOR TRAVELERS LIKE US TO PASS BY SAFELY.  ALL IN ALL, I FOUND THE AREA VERY PEACEFUL, LUSTIOUS WITH PLANTS AND ANIMALS.  WHEN I OBSERVED HOME AREAS OF THE PEOPLE, THE LANDSCAPE WAS CLEANED AND ORGANIZED ALONG WITH THE PASTURE AND CROPS.

CRIRE RESEARCH EXPERIENCE BY CWHITEHORSE

DAY 1 - SUNDAY,  12/09/2018

TODAY, MY DESTINATION IS TO ALBUQUERQUE, NM, THEN FLYING OUT TO HOUSTON, TX FOR SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA OF S.AMERICA.

NOTE THAT, THIS WAS NOT A SIMPLE BOOK A FLIGHT OR "BE ON MY WAY" TO THE AIRPORTS.  THE PROCESS WAS TIME, TRAVEL, DEADLINE PREPARATION FOR HEALTH SHOTS, PASSPORT IDENTIFICATION, INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE AND HOUR INPUT BY COODINATORS OF HERITAGE UNIVERSITY AND NAVAJO TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY WHERE I ATTEND AS STUDENT.  FINANCE CAME OUT MY OWN POCKET FOR PASSPORT, INSURANCE, MEALS, AND CHECKLIST ITEMS FOR TRAVEL AND OTHER UNKNOWN EXPENSE AS I ENCOUNTER MY DAYS TO REACH MY OBJECTIVE AND GOALS FOR THE DAY.  FOR EXAMPLE, AS A WOMEN I HAVE PERSONAL CONDITIONS SO I MAY NEED PRODUCTS FOR PERSONAL HYGIENES TO ACCOMODATE MY NEED DEMANDS.  MY WANT DEMANDS ARE NEGOTIABLE, AND PRIORITIZING AT THIS POINT BECOMES UNNEGOTIABLE WHEN SUPPORT IS VERY POSITIVE.

MY TRAVEL TIME WAS FROM 430 AM TO 630 AM OWN USE TRANSPORTION THEN FLIGHT TIME WAS FROM 7:00 AM "ISH" TO 3:38 PM WHICH LANDED IN SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA.

HERE, IN COSTA RICA AIRPORT I HAD TO GO THROUGH IMIGRATION AND SHOW MY PASSPORT AND INDICATED TIME OF STAY TO REGION WHICH IS DEC. 9 TO DEC. 21, 2018.  SO HERE MY PASSPORT WAS STAMP, NEXT COLLECTED MY LUGGAGE AND THEN PROCEED TO EXCHANGE US DOLLARS FOR COLONS INSIDE THE AIRPORT.  I SHOULD HAVE ASKED FOR A PHONE FOR INTERNATIONAL BUT TIME WAS LIMITED BEFORE OUR PROGRAM DIRECTOR, SCOTT WALTERS SHOWED UP TO CARPOOL US TO THE AEROPUERTO HOTEL IN SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA.
ON OUR ARRIVAL, SCOTT DIRECTED US CORDIALLY TO OUR ROOMS.  THIS WAS VERY IMPRESSIVELY ORGANIZED.  THIS AMAZED ME, EVENTUALLY, I COMPLIMENTED SCOTT, "GOOD JOB",
